Build Your First Software Testing Project
Build your first software testing project with this free course for beginners. Practice boundary value testing, automated API checks, bug reporting, and fix verification using a downloadable Python app.
Choose boundary tests from a written rule and explain why each case belongs.
Compare the app's response with the saved record before deciding whether a test passed.
Write a defect report that another person can use to reproduce the problem.
Run the same checks against a supplied repair and keep evidence of the results.
Start with setup, watch the demonstration, then perform the exercise and compare your results. Finish by designing a test for a fractional quantity.

You can begin the browser exercise without writing code. The setup lesson shows you the commands to run, and the video explains the supplied automated checks. Adding your own automated check is optional.
You need a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer with Python 3.9 or later and a web browser. The practice app needs no extra Python packages. You do not need a Jira account.
The video runs for about 11 minutes. Allow additional time to set up the app, perform the exercises, and record your results. You can pause the lesson and return to the work at your own pace.
The course includes the video, setup instructions, downloadable practice app, test templates, guided exercise, worked answers, and an independent challenge. The app and its deliberate fault are teaching examples with no real customers or payments.
Enroll for free, download the practice app, and use the setup lesson to get it running. Keep your test results and defect report as a record of the work you completed.
